These paintings seek to embody positive and negative concepts regarding the current state of our environment and the future of our unique Australian landforms. The recent devastating drought and bush fires have shaken my ideas about the future of our native environment. The bush now seems even more fragile and broken. It is under threat from our contemporary lifestyle and our excessive use and waste of resources. Native flora and fauna has been damaged to the extent where there is great concern about what will survive. The levels of plastic in our landfill, waterways and oceans continues to rise.
There is still hope in the way the recent rains have created new growth in our blackened forests. Regeneration of the trees and animals is evident in some parts of our ravaged land. It shows a resilience that is undeniable, and gives promise to what our future might be.
